The art of batik uses wax and dyes on material to create beautiful designs. But….. for children, crayon batiks are fun and kid friendly.
This is Anna and her batik using crayon, card stock and black acrylic paint.
McKenzie is showing her beautiful rose.
This is Beth’s cross. After creating your design with light colored crayons, You wad it up into a ball. Smooth it out and paint the entire surface with black acrylic paint. Run to the sink and rinse it off immediately. The black paint adheres to all the creases and creates the “batik” look.
I can’t wait for our next creative project. signing off. Ruth Bethea
