One of our favorite things to do is play board games. Owen and Thomas enjoy deconstructing games and building them with new rules or new pieces. This helps them to better understand the game and put their own spin on it.
The game Ticket to Ride has so many cool variations. There’s the original US map, Europe, Africa, UK … but there isn’t an edition showing our hometown. The boys worked to develop a new Ticket To Ride: Staunton edition.
First, we had to plan the game board using “trains” and “locations”:

Then, Owen and Thomas drew the board:

The finished board:

The game in action!

We enjoyed putting our favorite locations on the board, such as school, the nearby Asylum Creek, Grandma and Grandpa’s house, and the martial arts studio.
I can’t wait to see how many points you get for going to our house!!
